Prof. Xiuzhen Li is the Professor of Ecology, State Key Laboratory of Estuarine and Coastal Research, East China Normal University.
She obtained her PhD degree from Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands in 2000, and worked as research professor in the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences during 2001-2006. Her research is focused on the ecological processes, functions, and restoration mechanisms of coastal wetlands. She has conducted one National Key Research and Development Program sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, four projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China as project leader, and worked as Co-PI in more than ten national level projects. She has published more than 260 papers in peer reviewed journals, about half of which are in English. She is a member of the Executive Committee of Future Earth Coasts, contact person for the Mega-Delta Programme of UN Ocean Decade, and a standing member of the Ecological Society of China. She serves as an associate chief editor for Ocean and Coastal Management, and subject editor for Wetlands Ecology & Management. She was awarded the New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education, and obtained the distinguished scientific research awards from the Ecological Society of China and the China Society of Natural Resources.
